Baking soda is well known as being a great all-rounder that can be used as an ingredient in many different beauty treatments for hair and skin problems.

One of the more common skin problems many people face today are dark spots.

Baking soda can be blended with other ingredients and applied to the skin in order to lighten dark spots. Here we describe how to use baking soda for dark spots.

Overproduction of melanin (skin pigment)

Overexposure to UV light

Hormonal changes

Is Baking Soda good for Dark Spots on Face?

Yes! baking soda is a good exfoliating agent that helps to remove dead cells and removes darkness from skin. It also balances pH level of the skin, which is very important to maintain even and clear skin.

How to Use Baking Soda for Dark Spots on Face?

Here we will be looking at some remedies for dark spots, all based on baking soda.

1. Lemon Juice and Baking Soda for Dark Spots:

Baking soda exfoliates the top layer layer of skin, while the lemon juice gets to work lightening the skin that lies below it. Before long, you will be able to say goodbye to those dark spots.

You will need:

1 teaspoon of baking powder

Lemon juice

Gradually add lemon juice to the baking soda until you have a nice smooth paste.

Apply the paste directly to the dark spots on your skin and leave for 3 – 4 minutes, before washing off with warm water.

How often: This should be done once a day, every day, until you longer need it.

Caution: Some people with sensitive skin may find that the lemon juice stings with use. If this is the case then try one of the other methods listed here.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda for Dark Spots:

The acetic acid that can be found in apple cider vinegar works together with the baking soda to exfoliate the top layer of skin, revealing the lighter tones below.

You will need:

2 teaspoons of baking soda

Apple cider vinegar

Gradually add the apple cider vinegar to the baking soda to form a smooth paste.

Apply this paste directly to the dark spots on the skin and leave for 15 minutes.

Once the paste is dry, wash off it with cold water.

How often: Once a day, every day and you will soon start seeing results.

Caution: Those with sensitive skin can dilute the apple cider vinegar, just leave the paste on a few more minutes.

3. Castor Oil and Baking Soda Wipes for Dark Spots:

Baking soda and castor oil together can be used to treat over two dozen ailments and conditions. To treat dark skin spots, you need to make wipes.

You will need:

2 teaspoons of baking soda

Castor oil

Cotton pads

There are two ways that you can apply this mixture.

You can either add castor oil to the baking soda until a smooth paste is formed, or you can add more and soak a cotton pad in the mixture.

If using the paste, apply to the area and leave to dry before washing away.

If using the wipe method, apply to the affected area and this can be left overnight.

How often: The cotton pad method can be used as a regular beauty treatment, and not just for dark spots. Otherwise, once a day for as long as required.

4. Coconut Oil and Baking Soda for Dark Spots:

While the baking soda gently exfoliates the skin, helping to reveal the lighter skin beneath, the coconut oil soothes and cleanses with the help of its antibacterial properties.

What you need:

Coconut oil

Baking Soda

Mix two part coconut oil to one part baking soda, exact measurements depend on how much you need and how strong you need the exfoliation to be.

As a general rule of thumb, 1 tablespoon of baking powder to 2 tablespoons of coconut oil is enough.
Apply the mixture to the skin, leave to dry (around ten minutes) then rinse off with warm water.

How often: This paste can be used daily for as long as needed, or as often as you like – your skin will be left baby soft, dark spots or not.

5. Distilled Water and Baking Soda for Dark Spots:

A simple mixture of distilled water and baking soda can help to discourage dark spots coming back once you have removed them but also helps get rid of them in the first place too.

What you need:

Distilled water

2 teaspoons of baking soda

Mix the distilled water and baking powder into a smooth paste and apply directly to the affected area.
Gently massage for ten minutes and leave.

Once dry, or starting to dry, wash off with cold water and dry off.

How often: This is great if you have a spare 15 minutes and can be made use of once a day, for as long as you need to.

6. Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda for Dark Spots:

Hydrogen peroxide has been used for some time in beauty treatments, used most often to lighten hair. Mixed with baking powder however and it be turned into a paste to lighten dark skin spots.

You will need:

2 teaspoons of baking soda

Hydrogen peroxide

By far the most effective method of lightening dark skin spots, this mixture is really easy to make – just as with the other remedies.

Mix the two ingredients together to form a smooth paste, apply to the area and leave for up to 30 minutes – this depends on how dark the area is.

When ready, simply wash off and pat dry.

How often: Because this is a rather strong mixture, it should be used when you need to – it is certainly not for daily use.

Caution: Some people may find hydrogen peroxide to be too strong, and it can irritate the skin in some people. If in doubt, either dilute the peroxide or try a different method.

Baking soda has many health properties, and can be used in a wide variety of ways. If you have dark skin spots and patches, why not try one of these home remedies based on baking soda and you are almost guaranteed positive results.

Be Your Own Dentist! Natural Ways To Remove Tartar Buildup At Home!

A good oral health is important for the rest of your body. Mayo Clinic says that without proper dental hygiene your body

will not manage to keep the bacteria in your mouth at a healthy level. This could cause infection and gum disease.

According to WebMD, tartar builds up on your teeth from foods and bacteria, and makes it harder for you to properly clean your teeth.

This can lead to cavities and infections.

You should know that there are a few natural remedies that can help remove tartar on your own,

even though doctors recommend a professional cleaning from your dentist every six months.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You should soak your toothbrush in apple cider vinegar, then brush your teeth as usual. Wash your mouth well.

Do this once or twice per week, because the apple cider vinegar can damage your teeth if you use it too often.

Brush with Baking Soda

Simply pour a little baking soda into a small container, wet your toothbrush, put some baking soda on it and brush.

If you’re going to spend all that time working out and eating right, you might as well maximize your efforts by standing tall. Here are 10 easy ways to improve your posture.

1. The Balloon Method. My favorite techniques and not very well known.

Try this: If you don’t have great posture, stand up right now. Now imagine that there is a balloon on a string extending from the crown of your head.

Imagine that the balloon is pulling your head upwards toward the sky. You’ll automatically stand upright with your spine elongated.

Doesn’t this little mind trick work great? If you keep doing this for a few weeks, the habit will stick and you’ll have corrected your posture.

2. Move! If your job or school life involves a lot of sitting around, you’re more likely to slouch.

As your muscles tire of being in the same position you’ll begin to slump down. You need more movement.

For office jobs I suggest you make a habit of getting up and moving, even if just for a minute, once every 30 minutes.
